Melissa is my friend, my neighbor, and the mother of sweet one year old Kennedy, who is one of my daughter’s favorite playmates. She and I actually met in childbirth class when we were expecting our daughters, and it turned out that we lived in the same neighborhood but had never met. Her daughter Kennedy was born exactly two weeks before my daughter Madeline, and it has been so much fun to watch the girls grow up together. Our first play date was when they were just three weeks and five weeks old! Melissa and her husband David are expecting their second baby girl this November, and I can’t wait to see Kennedy as a big sister. Melissa and I had a quick mini session at Mashes Sands Beach a few weeks ago, and despite the overcast skies, muddy beach, no-swim advisory (which meant no shots in the water) and the fact that the clouds completely obsured the sunset over the water, I love these photos anyway! I will get to photograph her family again this fall and capture some mommy and daughter and family photos while they are still a family of 3, so Melissa and her sweet family will be on the blog again very soon!
Since we couldn’t get the sun setting over the beach due to the clouds, I got this silhouette shot of the sun across from the beach instead.

Even though Mother Nature didn’t cooperate with us on the day we did the photos, I’m still so glad we did them! I just love how varied the backgrounds are at Mashes Sands and I definitely want to shoot there again soon!
