About Beth Johnson Photography

Hi, and thanks for visiting my blog! This is where I share recent sessions as well as occasional promotions throughout the year. I am so lucky to have a job where I get to do what I love every day. I specialize in newborns and babies and also love to photograph maternity, children, and families.

I am a proud member of Professional Photographers of America, a board member for the Tallahassee Professional Photographers Guild, and a member of Operation: Love ReUnited.

I am a Tallahassee, FL native and FSU graduate. Besides photography, I love to read, travel with my husband, play with my 2 dogs (both rescues), and spend time with my family, who I am lucky to have close by.

Thanks for stopping by! Please contact me with any questions or comments you may have – I’d love to hear from you!

Layne & Blake | Tallahassee, Florida Engagement Photography

Sunday, March 20th, 2011

Layne and Blake are the cutest couple and they are so sweet together! I had a great time at their engagement session and am really looking forward to photographing their wedding this June!

I have photographed Layne’s niece and nephew several times but had never gotten to meet her or Blake, but we hit it off immediately. They are both really genuine and easy to talk to, and I immediately felt comfortable with both of them. They are adorable together and spent the entire engagement session making each other laugh. Anyone who is around them can see that they really have a close connection and they are perfect for each other.

Angela and Aaron [Tallahassee, Florida Engagement Photographer]

Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011

I was so honored when Angela contacted me about scheduling an engagement session. She and Aaron (who are adorable together!) met at Florida State when they were both students taking classes in the Bellamy building. They both graduated and moved down South, and they made the 5 hour drive up to Tallahassee a few weeks ago for their engagement session. Not only was it a long drive, but it rained through the entire session! Normally I would reschedule, but since they had driven up from out of town, we decided to go ahead and shoot anyway. The session was a little comical, considering I was trying to hold the camera in one hand (normally I use two to keep it steady, especially with heavy lenses) and an umbrella in the other, and Angela and Aaron could barely hear what I was saying over the rain. It was an interesting session, but a lot of fun, and they were champs about shooting in the rain!

Thank you guys so much for driving down here and choosing me to photograph your session! I had a great time getting to know you both.

Stephanie and Hunter [Tallahassee and Thomasville Couples Photographer]

Friday, July 16th, 2010

Stephanie and Hunter met in high school and then ended up attending colleges across the country from each other. Stephanie stayed in Tallahassee to attend FSU, but Hunter is attending Ohio State on a baseball scholarship. Despite the distance, they have been together over two years now and couldn’t be any cuter together. Stephanie is my sister-in-law and I love her like my own sister, so I’ve been wanting to do a session with she and Hunter so they could have great photos to look at when they can’t be in the same place.  They try to see each other and plan visits as often as possible, but they don’t always get to stay as long as they’d like. Hunter came in town for just one day and we took advantage of them both being in Tallahassee to schedule a session. They were up for anything, and I’d been wanting to do a session at Izzo’s Soda Fountain, a 1950s soda fountain in Thomasville, so we headed up there for the first half of our session.

Seriously, could this little diner be any cuter?

After we took a few photos at the dinner, we headed back to a local park in Tallahassee and managed to get just a few photos before the rain started.

Aren’t these two gorgeous?

They have so much fun together.

Cassie and Chris [Tallahassee, FL Engagement Photography]

Wednesday, May 19th, 2010

Cassie and Chris met at work shortly after Cassie moved to Tallahassee and they hit it off almost immediately. They recently got engaged and are getting married in September 2011. Most guys I photograph are polite and cooperative but not really enthusiastic about engagement photos. Chris, on the other hand, was the completely into coming up with ideas and locations, and he had some great ideas. Cassie is just as sweet as she can be and I really enjoyed getting to know her during the session.

It rained most of the day and I was worried we were going to have to reschedule, but about an hour before our session, the sun came out and we ended up with some gorgeous lighting. This one is my absolute favorite.

Another favorite, mainly because this was completely unposed. I didn’t have to ask Chris to dip Cassie; we were just walking and he grabbed her and dipped her. I barely got my camera ready in time and was worried I’d missed the shot, but luckily I didn’t and it ended up being one of my favorites from the day. Aren’t they cute?

Melissa and Eric [Tallahassee, Florida Engagement Photographer]

Saturday, May 1st, 2010

I had so much fun shooting this engagement session on the beach in Indian Pass, Florida. Melissa and Eric made my job easy — they are completely in love and absolutely adorable. They have had a fairy tale romance. They met a little over a year ago when Eric shyly gave Melissa a note with his number on it and then slipped away. She wouldn’t normally have texted him first but something about him intrigued her, so she did. They went on their first date shortly after and have been inseparable since. Eric took Melissa to New York City for her birthday and proposed in Central Park. See? Total fairy tale romance. They are getting married next November and I was so honored when Melissa asked me to be a bridesmaid. I can’t wait for their wedding; I know it’s going to be beautiful!

Eric is a Marine veteran so I was really excited to find this flag on the beach. I love the way this shot turned out.

I love beach sunsets so I was really happy to shoot this session right before sunset.

Eric did good a great job on the ring, don’t you think?

Last one — I love their silhouettes against the sunset.
